Cancelled for Covid-19

Unfortunately, due to the current limitations of gatherings, we will be unable to hold the Nebraska Summer Music Olympics in 2021. You may still view the repertoire and we encourage you to continue working with your students on the pieces. We look forward to seeing you next year!

The University of Omaha is an equal opportunity educator and employer with a comprehensive plan for diversity.

COLLABORATIVE PIANO Division will be postponed until 2022

Purpose

Founded by Paul Parker, the purpose of Nebraska Summer Music Olympics is to encourage supervised summer study with the assistance of a teacher. The summer months are uniquely suited to gaining stronger knowledge and acquiring a higher level of achievement with a deeper sense of accomplishment towards one’s chosen instrument. NSMO offers an incentive for any student who takes advantage of the summer to accelerate his/her progress.

Recognition

NSMO honors the participants with awards according to their demonstrated level of performance before a qualified judge. The special program honoring the Junior Virtuoso and Virtuoso Competitive Divisions will be cancelled for 2021.
